Fire breaks out
at bank in Supreme Court, brought under control

: A minor fire broke out at a branch of
the UCO Bank at the Supreme Court on Tuesday morning. Delhi Fire Services (DFS)
chief Atul Garg said that a call regarding the fire was received at 9.10 am. As
many as five tenders were rushed to the site and the blaze was brought under
control by 10.05 am, he added.
The fire spread to the false ceiling,
air conditioning unit and office files in the records room of the UCO bank. The
bank has a single-storey office in the court. The exact cause of the fire is
yet to be confirmed. However, a short circuit is being suspected.
This incident comes after a fire
broke out at the Jain Hospital in east Delhi’s Pushpanjali Enclave area on
Saturday. Another fire broke out at a chemical godown in the Fatehpur Beri area
a day before. Five firefighters, engaged in the operation, were hospitalised
after they complained of breathing difficulties.
Last month, the national capital
witnessed its worst fires since the 2019 Anaj Mandi Blaze. Twenty-seven people
were killed and many were left injured in the incident at at the first floor of
the building in Mundka that housed the office of a firm that manufactures CCTV
cameras and Wi-Fi routers.
